Sheila & Marvin Horowitz Hebrew High School

Rabbi Nathan Rose - Acting Director
At the time this article is being written ( beginning of March) I have been in the school for a month. It has been a busy time and a lot has taken place. Here are a few updates:

Students in grades 4-7 are taking a standardized Hebrew Reading Diagnostic test. This test evaluates the reading level of our students, enabling us to better help individual students. It will also help evaluate the job the school is doing in teaching Hebrew reading , and will guide improvements we need to make in this area of instruction. Initial results indicate proper instruction in Hebrew reading has taken place. Assessment tools have, also, been ordered to track student progress in our Hebrew language program. These will be administered near the end of the school year.

Newsletters with notes from the teachers updating parents on what is happening in each class are now being emailed home. The goal is to do this twice a month.

There will be a recruitment meeting for the parents of four year olds in the Wiston Family Torah Tots for the ESARS Sunday morning Kindergarten class on April 18 at 11:30 a.m. in the Torah Tots indoor playroom. Parents will meet with Rabbi Rose to learn about the school while the four year olds will join in the kindergarten class from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30p.m.

Representatives from the membership committee will, also, be there.

I look forward to months ahead as we go forward to make the Esther and Simon Adler Religious School the BEST Synagogue Religious School it can be!!
